This stunning Hondon villa was built to order by the present owners with an astonishing attention to detail. Found in a small valley on the outskirts of the village this villa has beautiful views of the village and church as well as the surrounding Sierra Crevillente mountains.
This detached villa has a 4 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms of which two are en suite, a large open porch the width of the house. There is a private 10 x 5m pool and large sun terrace, a separate garage and shaded parking for a further 2 vehicles. The 11,200m2 plot is divided with 4000m2 being left to natural campo ground, which can be developed to the purchasers liking with 7000m2 being developed, completely fenced and gravelled and landscaped.
The villa is reached down a quiet country avenue meandering between the olive groves and fruit orchards in an almost hidden valley surrounded by the magnificent Sierra Crevillente mountains. There is an imposing entrance to the villa with remote controlled electric gates, which glide back to reveal a magnificent driveway bisecting the gardens to the house. There is a choice of sheltered parking for two cars under the wooden carport or in the large brick built garage.
The villa is entered via a large, light and airy porch area which has been partially glazed to enable this space to be used nearly all year round. Through the front door the lounge diner is the width of the house (14m x 4m) and includes telephone, internet and connection to UK tv services.
Directly off the lounge diner is a fully fitted kitchen complete with oven, hob, extractor, fridge freezer.
Again off the lounge is a large and surprisingly wide hallway off which the 4 double bedrooms and bathroom can be reached. Bedrooms 1 & 2 are double bedrooms, with bedroom 3 being a double and en-suite and the master bedroom having a walk in wardrobe as well as a dressing room area with built in wardrobes.
There is also a summer room / second lounge / office which can be access either from the porch or master suite, with electric blinds.
The attention to details shown by the owners in the design of the villa is replicated with the astonishing amount of work undertaken and completed in the gardens. The 7000m2 of developed and landscaped gardens are fully fenced, irrigated and weed suppressed and lit and feature a contemplation & tranquillity garden area with a Japanese (Tanamara) tea house fitted with a couple of beds. From here you can hear the sound of the water in the pond and waterfall and genuinely relax. There is a thoughtfully placed viewing platform affording views of the Hondon valley and the village of Hondon de las Nieves. The scents and aromas of the thoughtful planting follow you as you wander around the garden and its various areas.
Roughly half of the gardens are dedicated to the oriental style and the other half are planted in a more Spanish style with a good portion dedicated as an orchard with apple, orange, apricots, pomegranates, nectarines, lemons and some very unusual strawberry trees.
There is of course a swimming pool measuring 10m x 5m which has been enclosed with a balustrade wall for the safety of young children and the pool is screened to provide privacy. There is a large sun terrace around the pool affording plenty of space for sunbathing and the obligatory BBQ’s.
This really is a property that words or photographs struggle to do justice and is well worthy of a viewing to appreciate the stunning location and attention to detail in the villa and gardens undertaken by the current owners.
The owner of this villa is an amateur wordsmith and has kindly written the following:
It's almond blossom time in the valley of peace &quiet The pink and white of the trees are picture postcard views to gaze upon. Birds singing and mountains covered in small, green, fir trees, make this valley a joy to live in
Properties are few and well spaced out over the hills. A short 15 minute walk away is a thriving village of restaurants, shops, and bars, where people sit in the sunshine all year round and socialize. We have 6 restaurants 3 butchers as well as supermarkets, banks, hairdresser and an ice-cream parlour. There is also a hardware store, and twice a week a thriving market selling many fresh products and other goods, a doctors surgery and a school for young children plus a popular music school
The community is primarily Spanish who welcome expats as neighbours and friends, and the whole area benefits from a police station nearby who monitor daily the school childrens arrivals and departures.
There are many amenities for all ages to enjoy such as football, tennis courts, swimming pool, all in the village, and even a local fishing lake for salmon and trout.
Walking and cycling are very popular past-times and there are many pathways crisscrossing the beautiful hills which command the local area.
After searching for two years on the coastal areas of Spain we found this beautiful valley by accident and fell in love with it. The houses are all built on individual plots, some large, some small, but they all enjoy an outlook which can only be described as panoramic and breathtaking.
The motorway is readily accessible and within a short time one can be in larger towns and cities like Elche with its large shopping malls and world heritage sites or Alicante which is far more than just an airport with its stunning marina and castle to cities like Murcia and Cartagena or Granada for shopping and of course the beautiful beaches of this unspoilt area. Venture further afield and the wonderful architecture of Spanish major cities is readily available.
I feel that having lived in Spain for five years that I have found paradise only two hours flight away from my family where I can enjoy winter temperatures far above those of the U K and sunshine most of the year
Over the time we have lived here there have been many improvements in the area especially the building of a new modern hospital and better transport links
As I walk to dispose of my household rubbish (no problems with this chore in Spain) I see men tending the grape vines in the fields. They wave a greeting and I return they're salutation happily.
In conclusion, look into rural areas like Hondon de las Nieves before you put roots down. Spanish local people are very helpful and welcoming. We enjoy local fiestas in the village. At new year we all celebrate when the mayor supplies grapes and champagne for all, and at midnight fireworks and dancing begins for all.
Sample real Spain , the coastal areas do have the beaches but a ride to the Hondon valley will open your eyes to a better lifestyle as most properties here have pools and while you swim your eyes register the vista of greenery and palms and the surrounding mountains.
Fly into Alicante airport and the Hondons are half an hour by car into real Spain.
So if you fancy real Spanish living a welcome awaits
